What the Free plan includes, what Pro adds, and how to buy, activate and move a license.
Quap is free for everyday work. Pro is a one-time purchase for people who work with large files or lean on the AI assistant.

What Free covers
Every editor, preview, conversion, transform and crypto feature on documents under 4 MiB, quap-mcp, and the AI assistant for the first 3 steps of each plan. No account, no time limit.
What Pro adds
- Large files (4 MiB and up). Open, scroll, search and edit files of many gigabytes without slowing your computer down. See Large files.
- Diff between two large files.
- Full AI plans. Plans run all their steps instead of the first 3.
- Saved AI recipes. Save a plan and run it again on any document with one click.
One key, three computers
A Pro license is perpetual and works on up to 3 devices at the same time. No account is needed.
Buy and activate
Buy
Click Buy Pro on the Pro page or in Settings → License. Checkout opens in your browser; the license key arrives by email.
Activate
Open Settings → License (⌘,), paste the key into License key and click Activate. You see License activated, and the plan changes to Pro.
Check
Settings → License shows Plan: Pro and who the license belongs to.
Move a license to another computer
On the old computer, open Settings → License and click Deactivate. This frees one of your 3 devices. Then activate the key on the new computer.
When you hit a Pro limit
- Opening a file of 4 MiB or more on Free shows Quap Pro required with Open Settings, where you can buy or activate.
- In the AI assistant, a longer plan stops after 3 steps with the note The free plan runs the first 3 steps. The steps that ran are kept.
- Save as recipe shows Recipes are a Pro feature.
