Find and replace

Search the editor, all open files or the preview — with case, whole-word and regex options.

In the editor

Press ⌘F in the editor to open the find bar.

  • Type to search. The bar shows N matches and current / total; Enter goes to the next match, ⇧ Enter to the previous.
  • Options: Match case, Whole word, Use regular expression.
  • Find all lists every match with its line number in a results panel; click a row to jump there.
  • Search all open files extends the search to every tab; results show as file · line.
  • Press Esc to close.

Replace

Open the replace row with the toggle in the find bar or the Replace command. Type the replacement and choose Replace (current match) or Replace All. With regex enabled, every match of the pattern is replaced by the replacement text as written. Swap find and replace exchanges the two fields. After Replace All Quap reports N replacements; ⌘Z undoes them in one step.

Find: [ \t]+$ (Use regular expression on)
Replace: (empty)

Need capture groups?

To rearrange parts of a match (for example 2026-10-03 → 03.10.2026), use Apply Regex in the Transform menu on a selection — its replacement understands groups such as $3.$2.$1 — or ask the AI assistant: "reformat the dates in this field as DD.MM.YYYY".

Go to line

Press Ctrl G, type a line number and press Enter.

In the preview

With the preview focused, ⌘F searches the current view:

  • Tree — search keys and values, or switch to JSONPath and type a path such as $.orders[*].customer.email. Matches are highlighted and the tree opens to them.
  • Graph — search node keys and values and step through matches.
  • Table — Search document filters the rows that match anywhere in the collection; each column also has its own search and value filter.

Search a whole folder

Open a folder and use Search in project to search every file in it. See Project folders.
