Quap is local-first. Open files, tabs, clipboard history, settings, and project paths stay on your machine unless you export or share them.
There is no advertising SDK and no analytics by default. The only optional network path is crash reporting (Sentry), off until you enable it in Settings.
License activation talks to quaply.com to count device seats and learn about refunds. Document contents are not sent.

What stays on your computer
- Your files, open tabs and their recovery copies
- Clipboard history, settings, recent files and project folders
- AI chat history and saved recipes
- AI API keys, stored encrypted
- Downloaded local AI models
- Everything Quap calculates: conversions, transforms, encryption, SQL, comparisons and analysis
When Quap uses the network
| What | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Update check | Shortly after launch (can be turned off in Settings → Updates) and when you click Check for updates | Version information. Updates are signed and checked before they install. |
| License (Pro only) | When you activate or deactivate a key, and an occasional check | The key, a random device ID created by Quap and the name of your operating system |
| AI provider | Only when you send an instruction to a cloud provider or your own server | Your instruction and a short description of the document; key names only if you allow it. Never your values. |
| Local AI model | When you click Download | A request for the model file |
| Crash reports | Only if you turn them on | Crash diagnostics |
There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
The AI assistant
- Cloud providers receive your instruction and, if you allow it, the names of your keys. The instruction is sent as you typed it, so avoid pasting personal data into it.
- The built-in local model runs on your computer; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Passwords and keys for encryption and signing steps are entered on your computer and never sent to a model.
