Analysis

Group, aggregate and filter records, then read the result as a table or one of 15 chart types.

Analysis answers questions such as "revenue per month", "orders per city" or "average delivery time per courier" without writing a query.

Run an analysis

Pick the rows

Under Rows, choose the array of records to analyse. Each option shows its path and size, for example $.orders (1200).

Group by

Choose a field to group on. Dates can be bucketed by day, by week, by month, by quarter or by year; numbers can be split in ranges of a size you choose. Add more fields with + Add to group on several.

Calculate

Choose what to compute for each group: count, distinct count, sum, average, min, max, median, or the 25th / 75th / 90th percentile of a field. Give it a name if you like. Add several calculations side by side.

Filter (optional)

Keep only some records: =, ≠, >, ≥, <, ≤, contains, starts with, is one of (a, b), is none of (a, b), has a value, is empty.

Sort and limit

Sort by any result column, ascending or descending, and limit the number of groups.

Run

Click Run analysis. The result header says how many groups came from how many rows.

Read the result

Switch between Table and Chart. Quap suggests a chart type that fits the result; change it under Chart type:

Bar · Line · Area · Pie · Donut · Scatter · Histogram · Heatmap · Treemap · Sunburst · Funnel · Radar · Box plot · Gauge · Sankey

Bar charts can be Horizontal and Stacked. If no chart fits, Quap says so and keeps the table.

Values that are not numbers or dates where one was needed are skipped and counted in a note. Very large results show the first groups and say how many there are in total.

Save and share

  • Save CSV — the result table.
  • Save PNG — the chart.
  • Copy JSON — the result as JSON, ready to paste.

Ask the AI instead

The AI assistant uses the same engine. Type "show the order count per city as a pie chart" or pick a suggestion such as Count (bar) or Monthly trend (line); the result opens in this view. See AI analysis.

Analysis works on JSON, NDJSON and YAML documents. With Pro it also works on large JSON, NDJSON, CSV, XML and YAML files.
