Install Quap

Download Quap for macOS or Windows, open it for the first time and accept the license agreement.

Quap runs on macOS 10.15 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel) and on 64-bit Windows 10 or later. Download it from the Download page.

macOS

Pick your build

Choose macOS — Apple Silicon (M1 and later) or macOS — Intel. Not sure? Open → About This Mac: a "Chip" line that says Apple means Apple Silicon.

Install

Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Quap into Applications.

First launch

Open Quap from Applications or Spotlight (⌘ Space, type "Quap").

If macOS blocks the app

If macOS says it cannot verify Quap, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the message about Quap and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.

Windows

Download

Choose Windows — 64-bit installer and run the downloaded Quap_…_x64-setup.exe.

Install

Follow the installer. If your computer doesn't have Microsoft Edge WebView2 yet (it comes with Windows 11), the installer downloads it, so keep the internet connection on.

First launch

Open Quap from the Start menu.

If Windows shows a warning

If Windows says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. You only need to do this once.

On Windows, keyboard shortcuts use Ctrl where the docs show ⌘, and Alt where they show ⌥.

License agreement

On first launch Quap shows its end-user license agreement. Read it and click Accept to continue. The agreement is shown again only when its version changes.

What you get without signing in

There is no account. Quap starts on the Free plan: every feature works on documents under 4 MiB, and the AI assistant runs the first 3 steps of each plan. See Free and Pro.

Updates

Quap checks for a new version shortly after launch. When one is available you see A new version is available with the release notes; click Update Now, then Restart when the download finishes. You can turn the launch check off in Settings → Updates and check by hand with Check for updates.

Update packages are signed, and Quap verifies the signature before installing.

Uninstall

macOS: quit Quap and move it from Applications to the Trash. Settings and recovery data live in ~/Library/Application Support/com.quap.app; delete that folder too if you want a clean slate.
Windows: open Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find Quap and choose Uninstall. Settings and recovery data live in %APPDATA%\com.quap.app.
