Regex lab
Understand any regular expression in plain words, or build one from simple options.
Open Tools → Regex lab. It has two tabs.
Explain
Paste a pattern under Pattern. The Explanation breaks it into parts and says what each one matches:
^[A-Z]{2}\d{2}[A-Z0-9]{1,30}$| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
^ | start of string / line |
[A-Z] | character class (match any listed character) |
{2} | exactly 2 times |
\d | digit (0-9) |
{2} | exactly 2 times |
[A-Z0-9] | character class (match any listed character) |
{1,30} | between 1 and 30 times |
$ | end of string / line |
An invalid pattern shows Invalid pattern.
Build
Tick what the text should contain and Quap writes the pattern:
- Digits, Letters, or both,
- a complete Email or URL pattern (these replace the other options),
- a Literal text,
- Min length and Max length.
For example Digits with min 3 and max 8 gives ^[0-9]{3,8}$.
The generated pattern shows under Generated / pattern together with its explanation. Copy it into the find bar (with Use regular expression on), into Transform → Apply Regex, or anywhere else.
