Random data and masking
Generate realistic test data from real records, and anonymise personal data before you share a file.
Mask personal data
Masking hides most of a value but keeps its shape, so the data still looks real and stays useful for testing:

How to mask:
- One value — hover it in the Tree and click Mask value.
- A field in every record — right-click one value → Mask N values at same depth, or pick Mask with the Same key scope.
- Everything — right-click → Mask entire document.
- By description — ask the AI: "mask the email and phone fields". For a document with personal data the AI suggestions include Mask personal data with the fields already filled in.
Before you share
Masking happens on your computer. Mask a copy (Open in new tab from the AI result, or File → Save As… first) if you need to keep the original.
Realistic random values
Generate random value (smart) looks at the field name and the current value and produces a new value of the same kind: names stay names, emails stay emails, phone numbers, addresses, cities, companies, prices, dates and UUIDs stay what they are, and the value type never changes. Use it to turn a production sample into safe test data.

Generate more records
Need 500 records instead of 5? Select a record in the editor, right-click → Duplicate n times, enter the count, and keep smart randomizer on: every copy gets new realistic values. Or ask the AI: "generate 500 new records like the existing ones".
