Comparing large files
Compare two files of many gigabytes without waiting for them to load.
Diff two large files
Open both
Open the two files. Both need to be 4 MiB or larger.
Switch to Diff
Choose Diff in the mode switcher at the bottom of the window, or right-click the second tab → Diff with active.
Go through the changes
Quap finds the differences (Computing diff…) and shows them side by side. Use Previous difference and Next difference to move through them; the counter shows where you are, for example 3 / 41. No differences means the files are identical.
When there are a great many differences, Quap shows the first ones and tells you so (Diff truncated — showing first N hunks).
Compare
Compare puts both large files side by side so you can read and scroll them together. Finding the lines two lists share, or the ones only one has, works on regular-sized files.
A large file and a small one
A large file can't be compared with a regular-sized one (Both tabs must be the same type). Open both as large files, or compare smaller excerpts. For regular files, see Compare & Diff.
