Convert between formats
Turn JSON, YAML, XML, CSV, SQL and Base64 into each other with the Convert panel.
The Conv button in the preview toolbar opens the Convert panel. It converts the whole active document and shows the result next to it, so you can check it before using it.
Steps
Open the panel
Click Conv in the preview toolbar.
Pick a target
Under Target, choose → JSON, → YAML, → XML, → CSV, → SQL, → Base64, or a programming language (→ C#, → Java, → TypeScript, → Python).
Check the output
The result appears in an editor below the options. Tick Pretty for indented output.
Use it
Copy the result, or Apply to document to replace the active document with it. ⌘Z brings the original back.

"Code" means C#, Java, TypeScript and Python classes — see Generate code. From Base64, Quap decodes the payload and converts it to the chosen format. To get SQL or code from a CSV file, convert it to JSON first.
SQL documents have their own dialect conversion in the SQL preview.
Tips
- CSV needs an array of records; each key becomes a column. Nested objects and arrays are written into their cell as JSON. To flatten them into their own columns, ask the AI assistant to reshape the records first ("reshape to id, customerName, total").
- XML from JSON uses keys as element names; an array becomes an element with one
<item>child per entry. - Base64 of an image or PDF cannot be decoded as text; the preview shows the file instead.
- The AI assistant converts too — "convert the document to CSV" — and can combine it with other steps such as filtering first.
Large files
On large files (Pro), JSON and NDJSON convert to CSV and YAML, and code generation works from a sample of the structure. The output opens in a new tab. XML, SQL and Base64 targets are not available on large files yet.
